100th Post

Good Morning Wonderers:

I know you’ve been wondering how my home improvement while the hubby was gone projects went. Well…. Drumroll Please….. HE LOVED IT!

First my project list:

Hang curtains
Organize closet
Wash windows
Organize the office
Hang mirror
Shampoo carpets
Wipe down all wood work
Wipe down doors and light fixtures
Wipe down kitchen cabinets

First off I delegated all the wipe down stuff to Brent. My shoulders said No!
My neighbor Andy let me borrow his stud finder and leveler. And while I had it I found all the studs for my windows and in the garage, the kids bathroom and the office. Oh future projects are in the wind. I’ve thought about buying my own stud finder but I would be like a kid with a loaded gun, dangerous. I marked out where all curtain rods should be installed and

Curtains hung. He picked gold but I’m getting ready for Christmas because I think red. With my rods up, what’s stopping me?
Office went from

To

Just need some artwork for that wall. I’m thinking bookshelves. I just met a young carpenter that I think can do it. I’m having him put some shelves in the bathroom to see what he can do. I didn’t do all that measuring for nothing! I wish I had the audacity to paint a mural. And you know I do! I need another road trip for Popi for sure.

Oh and so you know, we did put a hole in the wall in the stairwell when we moved a dresser from the garage up stairs. A little putty knife, putty and paint, he didn’t notice it. I had to wash the stairwell walls though to pull that one off!

I hung the mirror in the bedroom and did get all the carpets shampooed.

I did not get to washing the windows but hey, I covered then with drapes. I only had 6 days. If he had been gone longer I probably would have killed myself. But when he was gone I had fun doing what I wanted to do with no explanation or criticism. When he came back he loved the improvements. That’s what I call compromising my way! 😉

Until next time, thanks for perusing and keep wondering!

It’s still me

Good Evening Wonderers.

Boy have I been busy. I had to put everyone down just so I can tell you about the last couple of days.

Yesterday Brent and I went to a 5 and Dime store. It goes to show how time changes because he asked me before we went in if everything cost five dollars and ten cents. Of course I laughed no not like everything costs a dollar at the Dollar Tree. It is a thrift store. I went in looking for a desk for the office. One I would lock my things away when I wasn’t in there. It was the first time I went to this store and OMG. I was in thrift store heaven! It seemed as if the place never ended. I would turn and there would be another whole section of treasure. There was so much stuff I was taking mental notes to come back and look at this and that. My husband wasn’t with me so I was in no rush. I was free to browse and I did. Here is what I found. A painting by Armando for the foyer. I love the colors. It matches my new drapes

Now back to my desk. Well I didn’t see one! I did see something that caught my eye and I contemplated how I would get it home. I envisioned flattening all my tires and needing new shocks and started to walk away when I heard from a distant, “We deliver!” OMG! OMG! OMG! I love this store. If you are ever in the area and you like thrift stores, junking or treasure hunting you have to add this store to your list:
5 & Dime Thrift Store
1464 E. Main Street
Rock Hill, SC

Here is what I found for my office. Note: my husband is going to kill me when he sees it. It’s here now and it’s Minnnnneeeeesssss!

My new office/art/craft center!

It fits all of my criteria. Drawers for storage and filing, easy access and I can lock it. Bonus: when I’m not using it I can close it up and the office will be none the wiser of the mess that is inside. Want to see the insides wonderers?

Me, not you

Good Morning Wonders:

My husband is away on business but before he left he said to me I couldn’t go because I needed to stay and watch the kids. He left yesterday at 5 a.m. At 9 a.m., just 4 hours later, I was at urgent care with J. Beads in her nose!
Well honey, I’m setting the tone for my week with the kids, not you. And this curse has been fulfilled. Just 4 hours in and need has been checked . We are moving on to fun.

You left grocery money for me to go food shopping. Guess what? We will be eating out everyday. I’ve already got my map together of where kids eat free. I’m not cooking not one night. I’m in charge of the diet this week, not you. So you know we had CiCi pizza last night, all you can eat. I cancelled my doctor’s appointment this morning. A1c don’t lie. And I’ll probably have pizza again this week. We are sorry you don’t like pizza but we do.

I’ve got a project lined up for everyday this week. Something you wouldn’t let me do or something you told me to wait on. I’m starting with hanging curtains in our living room. I’ve been waiting on you for two years. Today is the day! I’ve got plenty of plaster if I put a hole in the walls. But I got a leveler and a stud finder from a neighbor, hopefully that means I will only put purposeful holes in the wall :-).

I’m relaxing the rules, just a little, because we need a break too. I’m in charge this week. Me, not you. ME!

I’m putting this in writing just in case some of my projects go awry so you’ll know I went a little crazy, but be sure, we will be having fun this week. Fun, fun, fun, fun…..fun.

Disclaimer Wonderers . This is not rebellion or complaints. It’s a proclamation. Mundy Madness is in the house .

Putting up the easel – The Giveaway Project!

Good mornings wonders.

I’m feeling inspired this cold rainy morning and I’m putting up the easel. At least after someone else wakes up and brings it and all my paints up stairs, I’ll be putting up the easel. But in the meantime, I’ve been sketching a layout for the first selection of my first giveaway. I plan on announcing it for my anniversary blogging date January 20, 2013. The rain inspired me to this sketchy sketch. As much as I would love to free style, I have learned sometimes that is not the best way to go. Tell me what you think?

It’s 1:11 p.m. Time to take a nap!

Got the foundation in. Now comes the hard part – texture!

Mundy Madness – a Thanks Mom

Good Morning Wonderers!

I was thinking I needed to thank my mom for all the things she put on me because her mother put them on her. I’m talking about the things that bring me unnecessary stress. The things that make other people think I’m overwhelming at times and definitely a tyrant.

Thank you Mom for raising me to believe my house has to be clean bringing in the new year. Yes Mom, I cleaned out my shoe closet , my clothes closet, my night stand drawers. I dusted and vacuumed my room and cleaned my bathroom. You would be proud. While I was at it, I rearranged the furniture too and got everything up from under the bed.

Thank you Mom for saying all your laundry had to be done bringing in the new year or otherwise you will be washing clothes all year. I dispelled that one last year lady and called my girls and told them that one is a myth. But habit is habit, I washed all the clothes anyway and swept and mopped the laundry room floor.

I cleaned out the refrigerator Mom and went grocery shopping for collard greens, black eye peas and rice. We have to have that and EVERYONE has to eat it for the household to have good luck and plenty of money. Alex, your holding us back buddy. We might have hit that Megabuck by now if you would just eat your share of black eye peas. You have to do better buddy!

I don’t have the energy to rant with the grown folks around here about cleaning their rooms but you guys better have your bedroom doors shut when the new year rolls through the house! And clean your bathrooms! I mean it!!!!

Okay wonders, I hope your ready for the new year and that your homes will continue to be blessed. I want to extend a Happy New Year to all of you! I am definitely having my last surgery for the year this morning and will see you guys in the new year. As always, thanks for perusing and until next time, keep wondering.

Oh and by the way, y’all can visit me, my house is clean! (thanks Mom, I love you)

Crafty Update

Hey Wonderers!

I thought you would like to see what I’ve been up to and update you on my art classes. While I was down we got a new computer that I don’t know how to work. Luckily for me, my husband did get some Geek Squad package from Best Buy, my new best friends. (Guys your on my Christmas cookie list. :-). I promise!). I’ll have to tell you guys about what I learned another day but since I’m posting over my iPhone I’ll save that lesson for my first computer post.

My figurative drawing class is challenging but so far so good. Here are some samples

Good Magnets are Hard to Find

Dear Wonderers:

I am back at my munificent board to make magnets of course. They were not as easy to find as I thought. The magnetic surface has to be smooth and the magnet has to be light to stick. So I decided to make some. I went to Walmart and got some supplies

20130918-150636.jpg
Magnetic sheets and sticky foam alphabet. Glitter ones because I’m girlie. But they have other boring ones too. The beauty of it all is both products have a sticky side. You just peele off the paper and stick the sticky sides together. Then just cut and trim the excess and you get MAGNETS!

Oh joy! I’m going do the whole bag the next rainy day I have nothing to do so Lil J and I can make words.

Until next time, thanks for perusing and keep wondering!

Progress Complete -chalkboard status

Good Afternoon Fellow Wonderers:

For now, I have completed the mud room space. My magnetic chalkboard is working magic on my imagination and so far Lil J is loving the space. I look around this room and see so many more possibilities. By Christmas it will probably be a arts and craft station as well as educational. You see the rack in the middle of the shelving. I think if I get more racks, I could put all my rapping paper and ribbons on racks. Oh, the possibilities are endless. Poor hubby will have quite a few honey-do list coming soon.

My board, I am loving it. It’s so large and can be used in so many ways I feel it needs a name. I’m going to call it “Munificent Board!”

So with much appreciation for everyones help on my project:

And I already have my first homework assignment ready to hang on it.

Thanks for perusing and until next time, keep wondering.

Chalkboard progress report

Okay wonderers, there’s no turning back now! First coat of chalk paint is on the wall. I have to wait 24 hours for the next coat.

Here’s what I learned today.

You really should wear plastic gloves when your painting. It makes cleaning your hands up so much easier.

Concentrated 2x Dawn dish liquid is the new all purpose cleaner. Adding vinegar only increases the power.

Dream big, live bigger! I decided to go full scale on my board. I kept thinking I wasn’t going to need all the space I had taped out but hey, what’s a few inches between need and want. 🙂

This is what I got.

Location Approved

Good morning fellow wonderers:

A location has been approved by hubby
for my magnetic chalkboard wall. Drum roll please – The mud room!

Why there you might be wondering?

It is right off the kitchen where Lil J can play while I’m cooking.

It is right near a bathroom.

It has doors on both sides of the room and if it is an unsightly mess, I can close it off from the rest of the house.

That’s where I got the husband’s interest and finally approval. I had to go the long way of course by suggesting the kitchen first, which is really funny, because I don’t have a whole wall in the kitchen except the wall that hangs the canvas I brought back from Aruba and if you knew how I struggled for a location for that picture, you’ll understand it will never be moved. 🙂

Here are my before pictures and proof that the kitchen wouldn’t do. Heheehe.

20130910-062356.jpg

My husband built the shelving in last year so that part of the mud room just needs some adjusting. Here are the tools I will be using.

20130910-062705.jpg
High density foam roller
Rust-oleum magnetic primer (thank you stitching grandma)
Valspar chalkboard paint
Painter’s tape

Can you guess what I’ll be doing today?

Thank you for perusing.

Until next time, keep wondering.
